The destruction of Ballaban Pasha's army and the costly siege of Elbasan during the previous siege of Krujë compelled Mehmed II to launch a renewed offensive against Skanderbeg only two months after the Albanian leader's prior victory, seeking to eliminate the persistent Albanian resistance once and for all.
In summer 1467, Mehmed II led an Ottoman campaign into Albania, briefly besieging Krujë but withdrawing after determining a direct assault was not feasible. Simultaneously, Ottoman forces raided Venetian-held territories including Shkodër and Durrës, bombarding the latter, to keep Venice isolated from the Albanian defenders.
The campaign destroyed the Albanian resistance forces and collapsed the rebellion. Albanian territory was divided between Venice and the Ottomans, and the surviving Albanian rebel leaders continued their lives under Venetian rule, effectively ending organized armed resistance.
