Biography
Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, better known as Kaká, was born on April 22, 1982, in Gama, Brazil. He became one of football's most celebrated attacking midfielders, known for his speed, skill, and ability to score goals. Kaká started his professional career with São Paulo in 2001 at 18, quickly becoming a standout talent in Brazilian football. His impressive performances caught the eye of European clubs, leading to his move to AC Milan in 2003, where he had the most successful part of his career.
At AC Milan, Kaká excelled under different coaches and was central to the team's attack. He helped Milan win the Serie A title in his first season and played a crucial role in their UEFA Champions League pursuits. His standout performances in the 2006-07 Champions League, where he was the top scorer, led to Milan's triumph and him being named the world's best player. In 2007, he won both the FIFA World Player of the Year and the Ballon d'Or, joining an elite group of players with victories in the World Cup, Champions League, and Ballon d'Or.
In 2009, Kaká moved to Real Madrid for €67 million, marking the second-highest transfer fee at the time. However, his time in Spain was troubled by injuries that hampered his speed and overall form. After four difficult seasons at Real Madrid, he returned briefly to AC Milan in 2013 before joining Orlando City SC in Major League Soccer. He initially went on loan to São Paulo and returned to Orlando in 2015, where he played until he retired in 2017.
On the international stage, Kaká was a key player for the Brazilian national team from 2002 to 2016. He was part of the 2002 World Cup-winning team and played in three World Cups. He also helped Brazil win the 2005 and 2009 FIFA Confederations Cups. After retiring from professional football, Kaká has pursued different ventures including diplomatic work and writing, having studied at Full Sail University. He has been married twice, first to Caroline Celico and then to Carol Dias, and remains involved in football through various ambassador roles.
