Early in her career, Kareena faced a string of flops, but she turned things around by taking on challenging roles that revealed her wide-ranging acting abilities. In Chameli (2004), her portrayal of a sex worker was a significant turning point, showing her willingness to play unconventional characters. Her critically acclaimed performances in Dev (2004) and Omkara (2006), where she played a role based on Shakespeare's Desdemona, further established her talent. Her lively role as Geet in Jab We Met (2007) brought her widespread recognition and a Filmfare Award for Best Actress, solidifying her position as a leading actress.

Over more than twenty years, Kapoor has managed to combine commercial hits with artistic achievements. Her films include blockbusters like 3 Idiots (2009), Bodyguard (2011), and Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015).
