Nicole Mary Kidman was born on June 20, 1967, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Australian parents. Her family moved back to Australia when she was young, where she attended North Sydney Girls High School. Kidman started her acting career in Australia with small parts in the films "Bush Christmas" and "BMX Bandits" in 1983. Her big break came in 1989 with lead roles in the thriller "Dead Calm" and the TV miniseries "Bangkok Hilton," which put her on the map in Australian cinema.
Kidman's international career took off with a supporting role in "Days of Thunder" (1990), where she met her future husband, Tom Cruise.
