Biography
Sandra Annette Bullock was born on July 26, 1964, in Arlington County, Virginia. She went to Washington-Liberty High School and then studied drama at East Carolina University. She started her acting career in New York, working in theater and taking small roles on TV before moving into film. Her screen debut was in the thriller Hangmen (1987), a minor role that started a career lasting over four decades and covering nearly every major film genre.
Before Fame
Growing up in Arlington County, Bullock got an early taste of the performing arts, partly because of her mother, Helga Meyer, a German opera singer who sometimes took her on tour. After finishing her education at East Carolina University, Bullock moved to New York City to really focus on acting, working jobs like waitressing while going to auditions for stage and TV roles.
