Simon Lucas Baker was born on July 30, 1969, in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. He went to Ballina High School and later studied at the University of New South Wales. Baker started his career in the early 1990s, first as a model before moving into acting. His big break came in 1992 when he joined the cast of the Australian soap opera E Street, appearing from 1992 to 1993.
