Stefanía Fernández Krupij was born on September 4, 1990, in Mérida, Venezuela. She gained international fame when she was crowned Miss Universe 2009 at just 18, making her one of the youngest winners in the pageant’s history. Her win was especially notable because it marked Venezuela's first back-to-back titles, following Dayana Mendoza's win in 2008.
Fernández represented Trujillo when she won Miss Venezuela 2008, beating 23 other contestants.
