Sushmita Sen, born on November 19, 1975, in Hyderabad, India, is an Indian actress and former beauty pageant winner. She made history by becoming the first Indian woman to win the Miss Universe title in 1994. Growing up in a Bengali family, Sen went to St. Ann's High School in Secunderabad and Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute, later attending Mithibai College. Her win at Miss Universe at 18 put India on the global beauty pageant map and brought her into the limelight.
After her pageant success, Sen began her acting career with her first film, Dastak, in 1996, where she played a fictionalized version of herself.
