The 1967 Formula One season brought the American Eagle team to compete at Spa-Francorchamps in round four of the World Championship. Dan Gurney, driving the Eagle-Weslake, qualified in second position, placing him near the front of the grid for the race.
On 18 June 1967, Dan Gurney drove the Eagle to victory over 28 laps at Spa-Francorchamps, finishing ahead of Jackie Stewart (BRM) in second and Chris Amon (Ferrari) in third. Gurney started from second position and secured the win for the American constructor.
The victory stood as the only Formula One win for a USA-built car outside the Indianapolis 500, and only the second win for an American-licensed constructor in F1 history. It was also the first American constructor victory in a Grand Prix since Jimmy Murphy's win with Duesenberg at the 1921 French Grand Prix.
