Having won the Monaco Grand Prix two weeks prior, Niki Lauda arrived at Zolder in strong form but not yet leading the 1975 drivers' championship, which was headed by Emerson Fittipaldi. The Ferrari 312T had proven highly competitive, setting the stage for a dominant display.
On 25 May 1975, Niki Lauda drove the Ferrari 312T to victory at Circuit Zolder, leading 65 of the 70 laps. Jody Scheckter in a Tyrrell 007 finished second, 19 seconds behind, with Carlos Reutemann third in his Brabham BT44B. It was the 33rd Belgian Grand Prix and second held at Zolder.
The victory elevated Lauda to the top of the 1975 World Championship of Drivers standings for the first time that season, displacing Emerson Fittipaldi. This momentum contributed to Lauda ultimately claiming the 1975 Formula One World Championship title with Ferrari.
