The 1984 Formula One World Championship reached its third round at Circuit Zolder, Belgium, with drivers including Michele Alboreto, Derek Warwick, René Arnoux, and championship contender Alain Prost competing. Alboreto started from pole position in his Ferrari, setting the stage for a dominant performance.
Alboreto led the 70-lap race to victory, covering 298.3 kilometres at Circuit Zolder on 29 April 1984. Derek Warwick finished second in a Renault, 42 seconds adrift, while Alboreto's teammate René Arnoux came third. Alain Prost, the championship leader, retired from the race in his McLaren-TAG.
Alboreto's win was his third Formula One victory and made him the first Italian driver to win for Ferrari since Scarfiotti's 1966 Italian Grand Prix triumph. In the Drivers' Championship, Warwick moved to second place, five points behind Prost, while the race also marked the last Formula One event to be held at Circuit Zolder.
