Cause

AEW sought to expand its Grand Slam brand of special events internationally, having previously staged all Grand Slam episodes as US-based special editions of its weekly programming. The growing global fanbase, particularly in Australia, provided motivation to stage the first overseas Grand Slam event.

Event

On February 15, 2025, AEW held Grand Slam Australia at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, featuring five matches. Toni Storm defeated Mariah May in the main event to win a record fourth AEW Women's World Championship, while Will Ospreay and Kenny Omega defeated The Don Callis Family in the opening bout.

Consequence

The event established AEW's international Grand Slam footprint, with a second international Grand Slam subsequently announced for June 2025 in Mexico. Toni Storm's fourth championship win set a new individual record in AEW Women's title history.
