Biography

Eliza Patricia Dushku, born December 30, 1980, in Watertown, Massachusetts, grew up in an Albanian-American family. She went to Watertown High School and Beaver Country Day School, then furthered her education at George Washington University, Lesley University, and Suffolk University. She is married to Peter Palandjian. Dushku started her career as a child actress in the early 1990s and has worked in film, TV, and voice acting for over 20 years.

Dushku became widely known for playing Faith, a rogue vampire slayer, in Buffy the Vampire Slayer from 1998 to 2003, and she continued the role in the spin-off Angel from 2000 to 2003. Faith was a standout character in both series, known for her moral complexity, and earned Dushku a loyal fan base, making her a key figure in sci-fi TV.

In film, Dushku made her debut in James Cameron's True Lies in 1994 as Arnold Schwarzenegger's character's daughter. She starred in Bring It On in 2000, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back in 2001, the horror movie Wrong Turn in 2003, among others. Her film work shows her ability to perform in comedy, action, and horror.

On TV, Dushku was the lead actress and producer in two Fox series. In Tru Calling, which aired from 2003 to 2005, she played a morgue worker who could relive days to stop deaths. In Dollhouse, created by Joss Whedon and aired from 2009 to 2010, she played Echo, a character whose personality could be changed with imprinted identities. She also took on a producer role in Dollhouse, broadening her industry involvement.

After her acting career, Dushku shifted away from the entertainment world. She has talked about her Hollywood experiences, including a lawsuit settlement with CBS, and has moved into work as a therapist and mental health advocate. Her career change highlights a strong focus on mental health and advocacy.

Before Fame

Eliza Dushku grew up in Watertown, Massachusetts, where she was partly raised in the Albanian-American community. She started acting at a young age and had already appeared in movies and TV shows before turning ten. One of her early roles was in the 1994 hit movie True Lies, which made her known to a wide audience when she was just thirteen.

Her rise to fame came during the late 1990s, a time when TV shows with supernatural and science fiction themes were becoming very popular and attracting large audiences. Playing the character Faith in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which started airing in 1997 and became a major cultural hit of that era, gave Dushku much more than a typical guest or supporting role.
