Guy Edward Pearce was born on 5 October 1967 in Ely, Cambridgeshire, England, and grew up in Geelong, Australia, where he went to The Geelong College. He started his career on Australian TV, gaining early fame before moving on to films that brought him global recognition. His standout roles in the mid-1990s made him one of the most adaptable actors of his time, easily switching between Hollywood blockbusters and indie films.
Pearce first gained wide attention with his role in The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in 1994, followed by his performance in the 1997 neo-noir thriller L.A. Confidential. As Detective Ed Exley, he showed strong screen presence, leading to more major roles. He reached new critical heights with Christopher Nolan's Memento in 2000, playing Leonard Shelby, a man with short-term memory loss investigating his wife's murder.
