The 1975 Formula One season's second race was scheduled at Interlagos, the home circuit near São Paulo, providing Brazilian drivers Carlos Pace and Emerson Fittipaldi a strong home advantage on a track familiar to them from prior campaigns.
On 26 January 1975, Carlos Pace of São Paulo drove a Brabham BT44B to victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix, leading compatriot Emerson Fittipaldi in a McLaren M23 to second place, with German driver Jochen Mass completing the podium in third.
The result stood as the sole Formula One victory of Pace's career. He was killed in an aircraft accident in 1977, and Interlagos was later renamed Autódromo José Carlos Pace in his honour, cementing his legacy in Brazilian motorsport history.
