The 2007–08 UEFA Cup drew 157 clubs from across European football, with qualification determined by UEFA coefficients. Defending champions Sevilla were ineligible to participate, having automatically qualified for the UEFA Champions League and advanced past its group stage.
Zenit Saint Petersburg defeated Rangers 2–0 in the final at the City of Manchester Stadium on 14 May 2008, with goals from Igor Denisov and Konstantin Zyryanov. The tournament also saw Montenegro represented for the first time, through Budućnost Podgorica and Rudar Pljevlja.
