Biography
Benjamin Šeško (born 31 May 2003 in Radeče, Slovenia) is a Slovenian footballer who plays as a striker for Premier League club Manchester United and the Slovenia national team. Known for his speed, strength, and goal-scoring ability, he has become one of the most promising young forwards in European football before turning 22. His career progression has been rapid, attracting attention from major clubs in Europe early on. Šeško joined Red Bull Salzburg at 16 in 2019, after coming up through Domžale's youth system. Instead of immediately joining the first team, he was loaned to Salzburg's reserve team, FC Liefering, in Austria's second division. Over two seasons with Liefering, he scored 22 goals in 44 games, showing the skill and physical growth that would mark his senior career. He debuted for Red Bull Salzburg's main team in January 2021 and became an important player, helping win three Austrian Bundesliga titles and one Austrian Cup while there. In July 2023, Šeško transferred to German Bundesliga club RB Leipzig, staying within the Red Bull football network. At Leipzig, he stood out with consistent performances, scoring 39 goals in 87 appearances over two seasons and winning the DFL-Supercup. His success in Germany led to interest from Europe's top clubs, resulting in his move to Manchester United in the Premier League. Internationally, Šeško played for Slovenia at various youth levels before debuting for the senior team in 2021 at 18, becoming the youngest player to appear for Slovenia's senior national team. He scored his first international goal in October 2021, setting the record as Slovenia's youngest goalscorer at the senior level. His rise aligns with a hopeful period for Slovenian football, and he has quickly become a key player for the national team's goals.
