Biography
Najla Mohammed El Mangoush was born on June 7, 1973, in London, England, to Libyan parents. She pursued her higher education across multiple institutions, studying at Eastern Mennonite University in Virginia, the University of Benghazi in Libya, and George Mason University, where she developed expertise in law and international relations. Her educational background provided her with both Western and Arab perspectives on diplomacy and governance, which would prove valuable in her later career.
El Mangoush built her career as a lawyer and diplomat before entering high-level politics. Her appointment made her the first woman to serve as Libya's Foreign Minister and only the fifth woman to hold such a position in the Arab World. During her tenure, she worked to restore Libya's international relationships and represent the country's interests on the global stage while navigating complex domestic political divisions.
