Biography
Nicolae Timofti was born on 22 December 1948 in Ciutulești, a village in what was then the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic. He pursued his legal education at Moldova State University, where he developed the foundation for a career in the judiciary. His professional life was largely shaped by decades of work within Moldova's court system, culminating in his role as head of the Superior Magistrate Council, the body responsible for overseeing the independence and proper functioning of the judiciary in Moldova. He is married to Margareta Timofti.
