Biography
Ramon del Fierro Magsaysay Sr. was born on August 31, 1907, in Iba, Zambales, Philippines. He studied at José Rizal University and trained as an engineer, though he worked as an automobile mechanic before World War II. When Japanese forces invaded the Philippines in 1941, Magsaysay stood out as a guerrilla leader in Zambales, gaining recognition for his effectiveness and bravery during the Pacific War. His wartime service led to his appointment as military governor of Zambales, laying the groundwork for a career in public life that would change Philippine politics.

Ramon Magsaysay grew up in Iba, a town in Zambales, during a time in the Philippines shortly after it transitioned from Spanish to American colonial rule.
