Biography
Shraddha Kapoor, born on March 3, 1987, is an Indian actress and one of Bollywood's top performers and highest-paid actresses. The daughter of veteran actor Shakti Kapoor, she joined the film industry in 2010 with a small role in the heist film Teen Patti, earning a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Female Debut. Her first lead role was in the teen drama Luv Ka The End (2011), but neither film was a commercial hit.
Kapoor's big break came with Mohit Suri's romantic musical Aashiqui 2 (2013), which made her a leading actress in Hindi cinema and earned her critical praise and a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress. She showed her range by taking on different roles, like a character inspired by Ophelia in Vishal Bhardwaj's acclaimed adaptation Haider (2014). Her roles in Ek Villain (2014), the dance drama ABCD 2 (2015), and the action film Baaghi (2016) strengthened her place in the industry.
After a period of films that didn't perform well financially, Kapoor bounced back with several hits, including the horror-comedy Stree (2018), the action thriller Saaho (2019), and the drama Chhichhore (2019). Her latest success was with Stree 2 (2024), her highest-grossing film, which earned her another Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actress. The film's success showed her continued ability to attract audiences in modern Bollywood.
In addition to acting, Kapoor has shown her musical skills by singing in several of her films. She is also a well-known celebrity endorser and entrepreneur, launching her own clothing line in 2015. Her social media presence has made her the most-followed Indian woman on Instagram, showing her widespread popularity. Forbes India has regularly included her in their Celebrity 100 list since 2014, and Forbes Asia honored her in their 30 Under 30 list of 2016. Her awards include the Stardust Award for Best Actress (2012), along with recognition from BIG Star Entertainment Awards, Screen Awards, and Producers Guild Film Awards.
