The 2013 Formula One season's seventh round was held at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. During the closing stages, Esteban Gutiérrez's Sauber spun off, requiring recovery. A vehicle sent to remove the car struck track marshal Mark Robinson while marshals worked on the circuit.
Sebastian Vettel started from pole position and won the race by more than 14 seconds over Fernando Alonso, claiming his and Red Bull's first victory at the Canadian Grand Prix. The race was marred by the fatal accident involving marshal Mark Robinson, who died in hospital after being run over by a recovery vehicle.
Robinson's death became the first fatality of a trackside marshal in Formula One since Graham Beveridge died at the 2001 Australian Grand Prix, prompting scrutiny of circuit safety procedures for recovery operations. Vettel's victory continued his dominant form in the 2013 championship season.
