CONCACAF organized its 2015 regional championship across the United States and, for the first time, Canada, bringing together national teams from across the North and Central American and Caribbean region to compete in the 13th edition of the Gold Cup tournament.
Mexico advanced through controversial quarter-final and semi-final matches to claim the title, defeating Jamaica in the final. Jamaica made history as the first Caribbean nation to reach the Gold Cup final, while defending champions the United States were eliminated in the semi-finals by Jamaica and lost the third-place match to Panama.
Mexico's victory added another Gold Cup title to their record, while Jamaica's historic run to the final raised the profile of Caribbean football in the region. Panama's third-place finish, in a match format not seen since 2003, also demonstrated the competitive depth of CONCACAF beyond the traditional powerhouses.
