The 2020 FIFA Club World Cup was postponed from its scheduled December 2020 dates due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which prevented the AFC, CONMEBOL, and CONCACAF continental champions from being determined in time. Auckland City also withdrew due to pandemic-related quarantine requirements imposed by New Zealand authorities.
Held in Qatar from 1 to 11 February 2021, the tournament featured six clubs after Auckland City's withdrawal. Al-Duhail received a 3–0 walkover in the first round. Bayern Munich defeated Al Ahly 2–0 in the semi-finals and beat UANL 1–0 in the final to claim the title.
Bayern Munich's victory secured their second FIFA Club World Cup and completed a sextuple — winning all six competitions entered in a single calendar year. They became only the second European club in history to achieve this feat, following Barcelona's sextuple in 2009.
