Fleet commander Dabigredboat of the Clusterfuck Coalition (CFC) intended to send reinforcements through a jump portal but accidentally clicked an adjacent menu option, deploying his lone supercapital flagship directly onto the battlefield instead of a large fleet of smaller ships. This misclick drew immediate attention from opposing forces and prompted both sides to escalate by calling in allied reinforcements.
Over 3,000 player accounts clashed in and around the Asakai star system on January 26–27, 2013, in one of Eve Online's largest battles to date. The primary combatants were the CFC against a coalition including HoneyBadger Coalition, Drunk 'n' Disorderly, N3, and Black Legion. Electronic warfare disabled navigation on many supercapital ships, forcing full commitment from all sides and transforming the fight into a prolonged, large-scale engagement.
HBC and its allies defeated the CFC, destroying 3 CFC Titan-class ships, 5 supercarriers, and 29 carriers, while losing only 1 supercarrier and 11 carriers themselves. Despite the military defeat, CFC ally Liandri Covenant retained control of Asakai VI and profited from collecting battlefield scrap. The battle drew widespread media attention and highlighted the real-world financial stakes of large-scale conflicts in Eve Online.
