Several qualification milestones were achieved, including India's first fencing entry and multiple sailing qualifications.
India competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, from 23 July to 8 August 2021. Flag-bearers Mary Kom and Manpreet Singh led the opening ceremony, while Bajrang Punia carried the flag at the closing. Athletes competed across 18 disciplines, with notable performances in athletics, weightlifting, field hockey, boxing, and wrestling.
