Georgia earned the right to host after winning the 2016 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with 'Mzeo' by Mariam Mamadashvili. The Georgian Public Broadcaster organised the event in Tbilisi, marking the fifth time the contest was staged by the previous year's winning broadcaster.
The fifteenth Junior Eurovision Song Contest took place on 26 November 2017 at the Olympic Palace in Tbilisi, hosted by Helen Kalandadze and Lizi Japaridze. Sixteen countries competed under the slogan 'Shine Bright', with Portugal returning for the first time since 2007 and Bulgaria and Israel withdrawing.
Russia claimed victory with Polina Bogusevich's 'Wings', the country's second Junior Eurovision win and its third triumph in any Eurovision-related event. Georgia and Australia placed second and third respectively, continuing Australia's growing presence in Eurovision competitions.
