Poland earned the right to host the 2019 contest after Roksana Węgiel won the 2018 Junior Eurovision Song Contest with "Anyone I Want to Be," making Telewizja Polska the organising broadcaster. It was Poland's first time hosting the contest and the first Eurovision event held in the country since Eurovision Young Dancers 2013.
On 24 November 2019, nineteen countries competed at the Gliwice Arena, with the contest presented by Ida Nowakowska, Aleksander Sikora, and Roksana Węgiel. Spain returned for the first time since 2006, while Azerbaijan and Israel did not participate. Polish entry Viki Gabor performed "Superhero," and Kazakhstan and Spain finished second and third respectively.
Poland's victory made it the first country to win the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in consecutive years and the first to win on home soil. Kazakhstan achieved its best-ever result with a second-place finish, and returning country Spain placed third, signalling renewed competitive strength among both established and comeback participants.
