Ajay Devgn, originally named Vishal Virender Devgan, was born on April 2, 1969, in New Delhi, India. He attended Mithibai College before starting his career in the film industry. Devgn's acting career kicked off in 1991 with the action romance film Phool Aur Kaante, quickly making him a notable name in Bollywood. The film's success began a career that would last over three decades, with him appearing in more than 100 Hindi films.
In the 1990s, Devgn earned his reputation through action movies like Jigar (1992), Vijaypath (1994), Dilwale (1994), Jaan (1996), Major Saab (1998), and Kachche Dhaage (1999). He showed versatility in romantic films such as Ishq (1997), Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998), and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). His dramatic role in Zakhm (1998) was a career turning point, winning him his first National Film Award for Best Actor and proving his seriousness as an actor.
The 2000s brought him critical praise for various roles in films like Company (2002), The Legend of Bhagat Singh (2002), Gangaajal (2003), Khakee (2004), Raincoat (2004), Apaharan (2005), and Omkara (2006).
