His musical talents showed early, as he learned to play both the guitar and piano and honed his singing skills.
Koldun's big break came from Russian TV talent shows, where he gained national attention. Winning the sixth season of Fabrika Zvyozd in 2006 kickstarted his professional music career and made him a rising star in Russian-speaking entertainment. This opened up more opportunities and paved the way for his international debut.
In 2007, Koldun earned significant international attention when he represented Belarus at the Eurovision Song Contest with "Work Your Magic." His sixth-place finish is still Belarus's best Eurovision result, confirming his role as a national cultural figure. The performance highlighted his vocal talent and stage presence for millions worldwide.
After Eurovision, Koldun broadened his artistic pursuits beyond pop music. He played Joaquín in the rock opera "The Star and the Death of Joaquín Murety" at Moscow's Lenkom Theatre, showing his versatility as a performer. This role let him explore different musical styles and dramatic expression.

Before Fame
Growing up in post-Soviet Belarus during the 1990s and early 2000s, Koldun experienced a time of cultural change and more exposure to Western popular music. While studying chemistry at university, he also honed his musical skills by taking part in local music scenes, which were growing as Belarus shaped its cultural identity.
In the mid-2000s, Russian television talent shows opened up new opportunities for performers from former Soviet republics to get noticed.
