Axel Erik Heinrichs was born on 21 July 1890 in Helsinki, Finland, and became a prominent military figure in Finnish history. He was educated at Nya svenska samskolan in Helsinki, then studied at the University of Helsinki and the École supérieure de guerre in Paris, where he honed his strategic and operational thinking. These early years helped him develop the military skills needed to handle the challenging situations Finland encountered in the twentieth century.
