Biography
Haifa Mohammed Wehbe was born on March 10, 1976, in Mahrouna, Lebanon. She has become one of the Arab world's most well-known entertainers. Her career took off in beauty pageants when she won Miss South Lebanon in 1991 at sixteen. In 1992, she claimed the Miss Lebanon title, but it was later taken away due to rules about marital status and motherhood. This early spotlight led her to modeling, where she appeared in music videos and TV commercials before becoming a TV presenter for Arab Radio and Television Network in 1999.
Wehbe started her music career in the early 2000s, releasing her first album in 2002. Her unique voice and striking looks quickly made her a powerful presence in Arabic pop music. She has put out seven studio albums in her career. Beyond music, her look has influenced beauty standards, with many Arab women wanting the 'Haifa Wehbe' look. Her international appeal was highlighted when People magazine named her one of the '50 Most Beautiful People' in 2006, the same year AskMen.com ranked her eighth on their '99 Most Desirable Women' list.
Wehbe expanded her talents to acting in 2008 with the Pepsi movie Sea of Stars, transitioning successfully from music to film. Her talent and savvy business moves have made her one of the wealthiest Arab celebrities, with a net worth over $57 million. She married Ahmed Abou Hashima, which further solidified her place in Middle Eastern high society. Over her career, Wehbe has won numerous awards as a singer, performer, and actress, making her one of Lebanon's most successful and internationally known entertainers.
Before Fame
Growing up in Mahrouna, Lebanon, during the 1980s and early 1990s, Wehbe experienced a time when Lebanon was working to rebuild its entertainment industry after years of civil conflict. The beauty pageant world was one of the few ways for young women to enter the entertainment field, and Wehbe's natural beauty and stage presence made her stand out as a competitor.
Her early marriage and motherhood initially created obstacles in traditional pageant competitions, highlighting the complex social realities faced by young Lebanese women of her generation. The modeling industry and music video appearances provided alternative paths into entertainment, allowing her to gain recognition and connections that later proved essential for her move into music and television presenting.
