Yungton Dorje Pel (1284-1365) was a prominent Tibetan Buddhist master and scholar who played a significant role in the transmission of esoteric Buddhist teachings during the late 13th and 14th centuries. Born at Gorma (also spelled Gurmo) near the influential Shalu Monastery in Tsang province, he came from the Len clan, a family of tantric practitioners who maintained hereditary religious traditions. During his youth, Yungton Dorje Pel was summoned to China by imperial command, where he demonstrated extraordinary abilities by ending a prolonged drought through ritual practices.
