Ferrari entered 2004 with a dominant car and Michael Schumacher at the peak of his career, having already secured four consecutive Drivers' Championships. The team's technical superiority, combined with Bridgestone's competitive tyre advantage, positioned them to extend their run of dominance over rivals including BAR-Honda and Renault.
The 2004 FIA Formula One World Championship was contested over 18 races between March and October. Schumacher won 13 of those races, surpassing his own record of 11 wins in a season set in 2002. Ferrari clinched both the Drivers' Championship through Schumacher and the Constructors' Championship for the 14th time, with Rubens Barrichello second and Jenson Button third.
The season cemented Schumacher as the most successful driver in Formula One history to that point, with seven world titles and a record for consecutive championships. Ferrari's sixth consecutive Constructors' title was a record that stood for years. Schumacher's single-season wins record of 13 endured until Sebastian Vettel equalled it in 2013, before Max Verstappen broke it in 2022.
