The 2019–20 UEFA Champions League was suspended and restructured due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The originally scheduled final in Istanbul on 30 May 2020 was relocated to Lisbon, where UEFA staged a condensed 'final-eight tournament' of single-leg knockout ties across two stadiums, with the final played behind closed doors on 23 August 2020.
Bayern Munich faced Paris Saint-Germain in the final at the Estádio da Luz. PSG were appearing in their first European Cup final, while Bayern were returning for the first time since 2013. Kingsley Coman, a former PSG player, headed in the only goal in the 59th minute from a cross by Joshua Kimmich, giving Bayern a 1–0 victory.
The win gave Bayern Munich their sixth European Cup title and second continental treble. They became the first team to win a European competition with a perfect 100% record. Bayern subsequently defeated Sevilla in the 2020 UEFA Super Cup and won the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup, completing an unprecedented sextuple of six major trophies within a single calendar year.
