Troy Victorino had been evicted as a squatter from a home owned by Erin Belanger's grandmother, leaving behind an Xbox console and clothing. Seeking revenge for the eviction and the return of his belongings, Victorino recruited three accomplices, further motivating them by noting a chance to settle additional personal grievances.
On August 6, 2004, four men broke into a residence on Telford Lane in Deltona, Florida, and bludgeoned six people and a dog to death. The killers were reportedly inspired by the film Wonderland. The attack became the deadliest mass murder in Volusia County history.
A jury convicted all four perpetrators in August 2006. Judge William A. Parsons sentenced Troy Victorino and Jerone Hunter to death and Robert Cannon and Michael Salas to life in prison. After the death sentences were overturned in 2017, prosecutors pursued capital punishment again, and both Victorino and Hunter were resentenced to death on November 3, 2025.
