Armenia earned the right to host the 2022 contest after Maléna won the 2021 edition with "Qami Qami," making it the second time Armenia hosted the event, following its first stint in 2011. The European Broadcasting Union coordinated participation from sixteen national broadcasters.

On 11 December 2022, the Junior Eurovision Song Contest was staged at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex in Yerevan, presented by Iveta Mukuchyan, Garik Papoyan, Karina Ignatyan, and Robin the Robot. Sixteen countries competed, including the returning United Kingdom, while Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany, and Russia were absent.

Consequence

France claimed victory with Lissandro's "Oh Maman !", the country's second win after 2020. Ireland achieved its highest-ever placement in the top five, while Kazakhstan recorded its lowest placing to date, reshaping national competitive standings within the contest's history.
