Albano Antonio Carrisi, known professionally as Al Bano, was born on May 20, 1943, in Cellino San Marco, a small town in the Apulia region of southern Italy. He emerged as one of Italy's most recognizable musical figures, with a career spanning seven decades and global record sales exceeding 25 million copies. His distinctive four and a half octave vocal range and operatic approach to pop, rock, and Italo disco music established him as a unique voice in the international music scene.

Carrisi's career took a defining turn when he formed a professional and personal partnership with Romina Power, daughter of Hollywood actor Tyrone Power. The duo Al Bano and Romina Power became a cultural phenomenon, achieving massive commercial success throughout Europe and beyond. Their collaboration extended from the late 1960s through the 1990s, during which they recorded numerous hit songs and represented Italy in international music competitions. Their partnership produced some of the most memorable Italian pop songs of the era, combining Al Bano's powerful vocals with Romina's complementary style.

He holds the record for most participations in the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival, appearing in 15 editions alongside other Italian music legends.
