Biography
Arkadiusz Krystian Milik, born on February 28, 1994, in Tychy, Poland, is a professional footballer known for his role as a striker. Over his career, he's played for several prestigious European clubs and is recognized as one of Poland's leading attacking players of his time. His technical skills, movement in the box, and goal-scoring ability have made him a consistent threat in various leagues and competitions.
Milik started his football journey in the youth academy of Rozwój Katowice before signing a one-year contract with Górnik Zabrze in 2011. His impressive performances caught the attention of German clubs, leading to his move to Bayer Leverkusen in 2012. To gain more playing time, he was loaned to FC Augsburg and then to Ajax in the Netherlands. His period at Ajax was particularly successful, and the club decided to sign him permanently in 2015–16 for a reported €2.8 million on a four-year contract. At Ajax, Milik became a leading scorer in the Eredivisie, confirming his potential as a top striker.
His success in the Netherlands attracted interest from Serie A in Italy, and on August 1, 2016, Napoli signed Milik for €35 million. He was brought in to replace Gonzalo Higuaín, who had moved to Juventus. Milik's time at Napoli was marred by serious knee injuries, including two ACL tears, affecting his progress and availability over several seasons. Despite these challenges, he returned to form, making key contributions when fit. On January 21, 2021, Milik joined Marseille in France on loan, later making the move permanent. At Marseille, he regained confidence, scoring regularly in Ligue 1 and European competitions.
After a successful stint in France, Milik transferred to Juventus, a major Italian club, continuing his career in Serie A. His move to Juventus marked a return to top-level Italian football and the chance to compete for major domestic and European titles.
Internationally, Milik has been an important player for the Poland national team. He played in UEFA Euro 2016, helping Poland reach the quarter-finals before losing to Portugal on penalties. He also participated in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where Poland was eliminated in the group stage, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where they reached the round of 16. Milik has scored crucial goals during qualification games and tournaments, solidifying his reputation as one of Poland's key attacking players.
