Biography
Dınmūhammed Qanatūly Qūdaibergen, better known as Dimash Qudaibergen, was born on May 24, 1994, in Aktobe, Kazakhstan. He's a classically trained musician who studied at the Kazakh National University of Arts. Dimash is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer, songwriter, and record producer, recognized for his remarkable six-octave vocal range and his ability to perform in classical, pop, and traditional music styles.
Dimash first gained broad recognition in the post-Soviet region after winning the Grand Prix at the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, Belarus, in 2015. This win boosted his reputation as an impressive vocal talent and opened doors internationally. He reached global fame in 2017 by competing as a wildcard on Hunan TV's Singer 2017, a major Chinese singing contest. His performances won over audiences, and he finished in second place, gaining huge popularity in China and across Asia.
Throughout his career, Dimash has shown impressive skill in performing songs in 16 different languages. Even though he was offered a role at the distinguished Astana Opera, he decided to focus on modern music. He combines classical techniques, traditional Kazakh musical elements, and modern pop, making him stand out worldwide and earning him a global fanbase.
His work in music and cultural exchanges has brought him many awards, including being named an Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan and receiving a commemorative medal in 2022. He won the Top Chinese Music Awards in 2017, ZD Awards in 2020, and Song of the Year in 2019. Most recently, in 2025, he received the title of People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic, recognizing his influence throughout Central Asia. As both a performer and composer, Dimash continues to expand artistic limits while sharing Kazakh culture on the global stage.
Before Fame
Born in post-independence Kazakhstan, Dimash grew up at a time when the new nation was establishing its cultural identity, balancing its traditional heritage with modern global influences. During his childhood, Kazakhstan experienced economic growth and increased international presence, offering cultural exchange opportunities that earlier generations didn't have.
His rise to fame started with formal music training at the Kazakh National University of Arts, where he honed both classical and modern skills. Winning the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk in 2015 was his big break, happening when digital platforms and international talent competitions were opening doors for artists from smaller countries to gain global recognition.
