Nguyễn Quang Hải was born on April 12, 1997, in Hanoi, Vietnam. He is a professional footballer playing as an attacking midfielder or winger for V.League 1 club Công An Hà Nội, where he also serves as the captain, as well as for the Vietnam national team. He is considered one of the best footballers in Southeast Asia, known for his finishing, ball control, vision, and playmaking skills.
Hải gained national and international attention during the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship, where Vietnam made it to the final for the first time. His outstanding performances earned him the Golden Ball as the tournament's best player. In 2018 and 2019, he was nominated for the Best Footballer in Asia award by sports journalists and football experts, highlighting his reputation beyond the region.
At the club level, Hải developed his career with Hà Nội FC before moving to Pau FC in France's Ligue 2 in January 2023.
