Biography

Nicolás Maduro Moros was born on November 23, 1962, in Caracas, Venezuela. He started his career as a bus driver for the Caracas Metro system, which influenced his political views and led him to become involved in trade union activities. As he advanced in the union, he became a well-known labor organizer and later moved into politics, winning a seat in the National Assembly in 2000 as part of Hugo Chávez's Bolivarian movement.

Growing up in Caracas during times of extreme social inequality in Venezuela, Maduro quickly became aware of the stark divide between the country's oil riches and widespread poverty. Working as a bus driver introduced him to working-class communities and labor groups that were central to the Bolivarian political movement. Through his involvement with the Caracas Metro workers' union, he gained a foundation in leftist politics and practical skills in organizing and negotiation, which would later shape his political career.
