Biography

Kristína Peláková (born 20 August 1987 in Svidník, Slovakia), known as Kristína, is a popular Slovak pop singer in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. She started young in the arts, working as a child singer, dancer, and piano player in Svidník before formally studying music at the Conservatoire in Košice, where she majored in singing on her teacher's advice.

While in Košice, Kristína often visited the local Jazz Club, where she met producer Martin Kavulič. This meeting was a key moment in her career, as Kavulič helped her secure a recording deal with H.o.M.E. Production. Her debut single, 'Som tvoja', featuring rapper Opak, came out in 2007. The next year, her single 'Vráť mi tie hviezdy' was a hit in Slovakia, and her debut album '....ešte váham' was released in 2008, making her known in the Slovak music scene.

Kristína represented Slovakia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with the song 'Horehronie', which placed 16th in the semi-final with 24 points. That year, her single 'V sieti ťa mám' reached number one on the Slovak airplay chart in October 2010, her third chart-topping single after 'Horehronie' and 'Stonka' in 2009. Her second studio album, also called 'V sieti ťa mám', released in October 2010, was praised for its modern production. Her single 'Life Is A Game' was chosen as the official song for the 2011 IIHF World Championship in Slovakia.

In 2014, Kristína released the compilation album 'Tie Naj', featuring hits like 'Rozchodový reggaeton' and 'Ta ne'. 'Ta ne' was her first top-ten single in Poland, broadening her fan base beyond Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The album went platinum in Slovakia. In 2017, she released her fifth studio album 'Mať Srdce', which produced the Slovak top-ten singles 'Si pre mňa best' and 'Láska bombová'. Kristína continues to tour Slovakia and the Czech Republic, enjoying a strong and loyal following in both countries.

Before Fame

Kristína Peláková grew up in Svidník, a town in northeastern Slovakia, where she was involved in music and performance from a young age. She worked as a child singer, dancer, and piano player, showing early talent in the performing arts. Her music teacher noticed her natural singing ability and suggested she focus on it as her main area.

Following this advice, she enrolled at the Conservatoire in Košice, one of Slovakia's important schools for music education.
