Biography
Rio Haryanto, born on January 22, 1993, in Surakarta, Indonesia, became his country's first Formula One driver. He started his racing career in karting, showing impressive skill by winning several regional championships. This early success paved the way for his move to single-seater racing in 2008 as he joined junior formula competitions.
In 2009, Haryanto won his first major title by securing the Formula BMW Pacific Championship with the Meritus team. This victory highlighted his talent in Asian motorsport and opened up opportunities for him in higher-level competitions. He continued to advance through various racing series, gaining the experience needed to reach the top levels of motorsport.
In 2016, Haryanto achieved his racing dreams by securing a spot with Manor Racing, becoming the first Indonesian driver in Formula One.
