Jefferson Agustín Farfán Guadalupe, born on October 26, 1984, in Lima, Peru, is a former professional footballer known for his time as a winger. Often called Foquita, which means Little Seal in Spanish, Farfán is one of the most celebrated Peruvian footballers of his era, admired for his speed, technical skills, and ability to set up goals. He started playing with Deportivo Municipal before joining Alianza Lima, where he made his professional debut in 2001 at 16. By 2002, he was already seen as a rising star in Peruvian football and went on to win three Primera División titles with Alianza Lima in 2003 and 2004. After the 2004 season, he was named the best Peruvian player of the year.
In mid-2004, Farfán moved to PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where he quickly became an important part of the team. During his four years there, he helped win four Eredivisie titles, proving himself as a reliable and dangerous winger. His success in the Netherlands caught the attention of major European clubs, and in 2008 he signed with Schalke 04 in the German Bundesliga.
