Vakhtang Konstantines dze Kikabidze, born on July 19, 1938, in Tbilisi, Georgia, then part of the Soviet Union, was a beloved figure in Georgian and Soviet entertainment. Known by the nickname "Buba," he became widely recognized. After studying at Tbilisi State University, Kikabidze pursued a diverse career in acting, singing, screenwriting, directing, and eventually politics.
Kikabidze became famous in the Georgian entertainment world during the 1960s as an actor and singer. His major breakthrough came with roles in various films, but he became legendary for his performance in the 1977 Soviet comedy "Mimino," directed by Georgiy Daneliya. In this well-loved cult classic, Kikabidze played a Georgian helicopter pilot with dreams of flying bigger aircraft.
