Biography
Casiano Wilberto Delvalle Ruiz was born on August 13, 1970, in Lambaré, Paraguay. As a forward, Delvalle's career took him beyond South America, gaining recognition in Asian football leagues that were growing internationally during the 1990s and early 2000s. Although he started in Paraguayan club football, his ventures into China and Japan were key parts of his career, setting him apart from many peers who stayed in South America.
In 1995, Delvalle was called up to the Paraguay national football team, playing mainly in friendly matches. While he wasn't a regular on the national team, being selected showed he was a respected striker in Paraguayan football at the time. His skills and goal-scoring ability suited different football cultures, which explains his successful moves across continents.
His career highlight in international clubs came in China, where he won the Chinese Football Association Golden Boot in 2000. This award marked him as one of the top strikers in one of Asia's most ambitious leagues at the time and underscored his goal-scoring prowess outside South America. Playing in China and Japan exposed him to differing styles and structures that were unlike those in Paraguayan football.
After his time abroad, Delvalle returned to Paraguayan football. In 2005, while with Sport Colombia, he was the top scorer in Paraguay's second division, showing his goal-scoring talent remained strong even as his career wound down. This achievement gave him one last moment of domestic success after his international experiences.
Once he retired from playing, Delvalle moved into coaching, contributing to Paraguayan football in a new way. His career path, from a domestic player to a national team member, an accomplished striker in Asia, and then a leader back home, shows a lifelong involvement with football at various levels and places.
Before Fame
Casiano Delvalle grew up in Lambaré, a city near Paraguay's capital, Asunción. Over the years, Lambaré has been known for producing footballers who advance through Paraguay's club football network. Delvalle started his career when Paraguayan players began catching the eye of clubs outside South America. In the 1990s, Asian leagues, especially in Japan with the start of the J.League in 1993, and the growing Chinese leagues, started recruiting South American players to enhance their competitions.
Delvalle followed the usual path for Paraguayan strikers of his time: proving his worth in local clubs before drawing interest from international ones. The opening of Asian markets to South American players provided opportunities for talents like him who were open to moving abroad. Delvalle accepted this chance, which led to the most successful period of his playing career.
