Biography

Justine Lissette "Yostin" Pasek Patiño was born on August 29, 1979, in Kharkiv, Ukraine, during the Soviet era. Her family later relocated to Panama, where she would eventually represent the country on the international stage. She pursued her higher education at the prestigious Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, developing skills that would later serve her in multiple professional endeavors.

Pasek entered the world of beauty pageants in 2001, winning the title of Señorita Panamá. This victory qualified her to represent Panama at the Miss Universe 2002 competition, held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Initially placed as first runner-up behind Russia's Oxana Fedorova, Pasek's life changed dramatically when Fedorova was dethroned several months later due to contractual disputes and inability to fulfill her duties as Miss Universe. In September 2002, Pasek was crowned Miss Universe 2002, making her the first Panamanian woman ever to hold this prestigious international title.

Her unexpected ascension to Miss Universe created significant media attention and brought unprecedented international recognition to Panama.
